I teach students of all ages and I often have calls from people asking if they're too old to learn drums. The answer is you're never too old as long as you can move all four limbs! I am currently teaching students from age seven to seventy seven! and from novice to advanced.

As far as youngsters go,from experience I've found that children under the age of seven don't generally respond well to lessons due in part to the physical challenges of reaching the foot pedals and sometimes difficulty in focusing on one thing for more than a couple of minutes. As always there are exceptions and if you're child is adamant they want to try then I'm happy for them to come along and give it a go. Children and adults with special needs are also welcome.

I try to keep my lessons fun but focused. My teaching is geared towards performance and helping my students with the technique they need to achieve their musical goals. Learning to read music is also important and is taught from day 1. I teach every student a wide range of music styles as I believe this makes for a more rounded player. Concert band pieces are also covered for those in school bands.

A NOTE TO PARENTS:- I have current Australian and UK police clearances and references.

I now also offer the AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) Contemporary Popular Music course . CPM courses are presented by AMEB to provide goals and standards for the developing contemporary musician. They consist of carefully graded printed material, backing recordings and an assessment program that can lead candidates from beginning to tertiary entrance levels. Please see AMEB site for more info. Examinations take place October yearly.
